Weight Loss Management

This program is a comprehensive approach to the broad problem of weight loss management that focuses on self-empowerment, nutrition, and physical activity. The program clearly is not a diet: instead, it is an educational and self-help program that combines these three essential components for successful long-term weight management. Sessions are scheduled with a Registered Dietitian and Certified Personal Trainer. We recommend meeting with the dietitian and personal trainer a minimum of once a week.

Revised dietary guidelines issued by the federal government on January 12, 2005 outline important steps that Americans can take to lead happier, healthier lives.

The guidelines recommend that diets not focus on any single type of food – as do many fad diets – but include a wide variety of foods, and balance caloric intake with physical activity. These recommendations are at the core of the weight loss management clinic.

Our program starts with an analysis of your current eating habits, your food preferences and your weight goals. Then we customize an individual meal plan that adapts to your needs and lifestyle, and helps you lose weight! Our interactive food journal and other powerful online tools through nutrition generator will track your progress and actually make slimming down easy.

Our program easily & effectively promotes the basic recommendations of the new Federal Guidelines:

  • To get your daily calorie allotment, eat a variety of healthy nutrient dense foods.
  • To maintain your weight, don’t eat or drink more calories than you burn.
  • Get regular exercise. It’s good for your body and good for your mind.
  • Recommended daily foods: fruit, vegetables, whole-grains and fat-free or low-fat dairy.
  • Watch your fat intake.
  • Carbs aren’t all bad. Just be selective and choose good carbs, at least 3 servings of whole grains.
  • Aim for a slow, steady weight loss by decreasing calorie intake while maintaining an adequate nutrient intake and increasing physical activity.
