Tiger Coaching & Personal Training is providing training at the Ambassador / Presidents Apartments in Lincoln. Check out comments from the AP Tenant Service Coordinator.
The personal training program Gary Bredehoft and Cindy Benda have orchestrated is the best program we have ever had. The positive and encouraging method of training and the ability to adapt the exercises to the tenants’ abilities have inspired the tenants to be more positive about their lives than I have ever seen them before! They have smiles on their faces! They have committed themselves to this, and they absolutely love Cindy Benda! If these trainers can inspire people the way I have seen, it is a personal testimony to how beneficial their program is. They provide instructions and illustrations for tenants to work on throughout the week and tenants are losing weight and starting to maintain a health lifestyle for the first time in their lives. They are outstanding, and a blessing to our tenants!

Absolutely incredible!! Those are the words I would use to describe my experience with Gary Bredehoft and Tiger Coaching and Fitness!! I was preparing to enter the Mrs. Nebraska pageant and wanted to make sure I looked great for the swimsuit competition. After making the decision to hire a personal trainer and researching several trainers in the area, I am so happy that I chose Gary Bredehoft. Gary has reminded me how to live a very healthy lifestyle and I can honestly say I feel and look better now than I did at 18! Gary is very knowledgeable and takes into consideration the diverse goals and personalities of all of his clientele. Gary was even able to alter my fitness routine so I was able to work out with a stress fracture in my ankle the last 2 weeks before the pageant. Before Gary and Tiger Fitness, I absolutely hated running. Gary taught me how to run correctly and more importantly to enjoy it. I placed 2nd runner up at this years pageant and I am excited for next years competition. I look forward to continuing my training with Gary and Tiger Coaching!

I want to thank Gary for all the guidance, support and knowledge he provided me for my training for two different life-altering events I participated in this past year. I was crowned Mrs. Lincoln 2005 and was to compete in the Mrs. Nebraska pageant this June. I also decided to take my fitness level in a new direction.( I had been working out in the gym and doing aerobics for 2 years) I decided it was time to do something new—something I had always wanted to try but just never had–running.
I placed a phone call to Gary to find some information out about The Lincoln Marathon and ended up with the best coach ever!! Not only did he provide me with a program that made it possible for me to run the 1/2 marathon sucessfully, but he provided me with a whole program to sculpt my body to look good in my swimsuit competition and evening gown! I lost over 25 inches and 30 lbs from February-June…I basically had a whole new body! Well, this almost 40-year person here needed this assistance to have the confidence it takes get on stage and compete. I won “The Director’s Choice Award” at the pageant and I also have a new found love of running–(and yes outside, not on the tredmill Gary…ha ha..inside joke!) Although I completed the two goals I had this year, I will continue to look to Gary for guidance in my future fitness goals. Hes a pro and I know I will get the information and guidance I need to get where I want to go. I can never thank you enough, Gary, for helping me make my goals a reality this year!

Gary,
I want you to know that I deeply appreciate all the things you taught me about fitness and also about being a person. You helped me hold my head up again and that is priceless.

I had run 2 marathons with the goal of simply finishing, when I decided that I was ready to take myself to the next level. I love to run but had little motivation to do other things I knew I needed to be successful, such as diet, strength training and hill workouts. I decided to contact Gary for advice, and was pleasantly surprised but his generosity and eagerness to help. After meeting with him and following his training plan for a few weeks I noticed a dramatic change in my physical appearance and running times. Gary is a wonderful coach, very respectful, kind and understanding, but at the same time knows how to push you when you need extra motivation. I was most impressed by his extensive knowledge about training, as he is a tremendous athlete himself. He stays on top of the latest information in training and health news, and knows the best and most efficient ways to become a top athlete. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to train with him and Tiger Coaching. I know that I will use the lessons I learned from this experience to become a better athlete and a healthier person for the rest of my life. Totally worth every second!

Gary;
Your program did help me achieve some important goals. My fitness level did greatly improve by working with Tiger Coaching last summer and in the fall. Also I did get some great bicycle coaching, and I would like to continue in that direction.
I really enjoyed reading your story in the Lincoln Track Club news letter. I had heard you had a bad race, but it was good to hear the story directly from you. I had my daughter read it because in a way it was inspiring…to know that even very talented, committed people can have a bad race, it helps us common folk keep plugging away! Also it reminded me of a fact that I realized during my first marathon, is that you can train and do everything to the best of your ability, but there are certain things you just can’t control, and sometimes they get in the way of your goals. Learning to accept that fact brings wisdom and peace into your life. Thanks so much for sharing that! I have a feeling you will be in Hawaii again.

TESTIMONIAL – Pius X High School Team Soccer Conditioning
In the Pius Girls Soccer program we constantly evaluate, assess and create goals for our 45-65 athletes. Among other things, we test in events that we believe are soccer related: Pro Agility, 40 Yard Dash, Two Mile Run, Vertical Leap, Squat Max and Bench Max.
In 2004 our team went 21-0 and was considered the most athletic team in the state. That left a lot of work to do in 2005 to get our new group up to the same standards. When we tested in December, shortly before Tiger Coaching began their sessions, we had a long row to hoe. Our times were worse in nearly every category and we weren’t as strong as the 2004 team. Now, having tested four months later, I can proudly say that we COLLECTIVELY cut .19 seconds off our forties. Our vertical increased by two inches on average. Our Pro Agility time went down by over half a second on average, and we cut 30 seconds per player on our 2 mile run. As a team, we also gained at least 35 pounds on our maxes PER PLAYER.
These improvements mean two things to me: 1.) We are now faster, quicker and stronger than the 2004 team. 2.) Tiger Coaching took our goals for this group and created a system that helped us get there.
I truly believe Tiger Coaching’s “Super Ab Sessions” strengthened our girls’ cores to a point (which combined with weight lifting) allowed them to reach new strength heights (we broke three lifting records this year alone). I also believe their Wednesday night conditioning sessions brought two things our girls needed: A.) Education on nutrition, mechanics and sleep brought to them by two guys who are on the cutting edge of these issues, and B.) Focused, intense workouts meant to help us achieve our goals.
As a HUGE bonus, Tiger Coaching not only kept every one of our girls healthy, they gave them tactics to STAY healthy. This was and is a huge issue to us because our girls have endured so many knee, hip and muscle injuries from some of the other fitness and training centers in town.
The last point, and maybe the most important from a high school coach’s perspective, is that Gary and Matt cared enough about our girls to push them. It didn’t seem like a job as they worked our girls out, it seemed like a passion. Furthermore, they were positive with our girls, and started relationships with them that showed this wasn’t about a paycheck; it was about each player meeting their goals. After the last session our girls were pumped to hear that Matt and Gary plan on attending some of our games this spring. Again, this goes above and beyond; but this is what Tiger Coaching does.
I’m so happy with the results that I’m recommending Tiger Coaching to my coaching colleagues at Pius.

I enrolled in Tiger Coaching’s Summer Running Class not sure what to expect. By the end I was running faster and with better form! I dropped nearly 20 minutes from my last marathon time and over 10 minutes from my previous personal best. I really appreciate Gary and Melissa’s approach and coaching tips – clearly interested in helping me achieve my goals.

Thanks for your help with Steve’s training program. After having spent three to four months with you and your staff, Steve saw a significant drop in his 50 and 100 freestyle swimming events, and his breaststroke event at the short course season ending meet.
Both the physical training and nutritional education provided a great catalyst for the improvement in his performance. Please pass along our thanks to your staff, they do a great job.

I have been delighted with the results of this coaching programme. I started it with the goal of improving my cycling, especially on the hills, and improving my time for running 5K and 10k. I was impressed with the fact that time was taken to find out what I specifically wanted from the programme and then a programme was designed to suit what I needed. In 3 months I have improved my hill climbing speed on the bike by 5 Kph and my times for running 5k and 10k have improved considerably. In addition I found the programme interesting and varied and started really enjoying my training again. I would recommend it to anyone interested in im`proving their sporting performance.

My husband, daughter, and I were looking for something new and exciting to motivate our daughter and bring out that hidden talent that can only be found by increasing your strength, confidence, and agility. Kelly has been training with Gary’s team for 3-4 months and we have seen a much happier and healthier girl. Kelly loves to go to Tiger personal training and never complains about scheduling new appointments. When we pick Kelly up after a session, she is always telling us the new and fun (but difficult) things she accomplished that day.
When Kelly started seeing all her positive results, I decided to get with the program also. Since we moved to Lincoln 12 years ago, I belonged to one of the large health clubs and enjoyed the fitness classes they offered. But after 12 years, I needed something new and different and also more tailored to my “over 40″ needs. I have been working directly with Gary and I truly look forward to each session because I know I will be challenged but treated with the utmost respect and courtesy. I took a fitness test on my first session and I hope to be one of Gary’s success stories in the near future.
I love the professionalism and high standards Gary offers at Tiger Coaching and Personal Training! I highly recommend Tiger to any one who is interested in taking care of themselves and their family!

Gary has truly been an answer to our prayers after our daughter sustained a back injury during the cross county season. After receiving weeks of physical therapy, we decided to look at Tiger Coaching hoping to focus on strengthening her trunk. Gary approaching her problem by first making contact with her physical therapist to ensure they were both on the same page. She began meeting with Gary twice a week. We were so impressed that he had a specific plan for her problem but also focused on helping her prepared for her upcoming basketball season.
After meeting with Gary for just one week, we could see that not only was he helping her physically, but he was also helping her with the mental aspect of being an athlete. After weeks of frustration, she was beginning to have hope that she would recover from the injury and actually become stronger. Gary was able to challenge her, but yet be sensitive to her physical limitations; constantly checking to make sure what she was doing wasn’t causing her pain. He is so flexible with his schedule, always wanting to put the client’s convenience first. We have seen that after spending a sessions with Gary, she comes away more motivated to work hard at achieving top physical performance. We highly recommend Gary and Tiger Coaching for anyone wishing to improve their sports performance or for an athlete returning from an injury. His personal care and interest in the athlete is outstanding.
We are so thankful for finding Gary and the part he has played in helping our daughter through an injury and definitely plan to continue to use him to help her achieve her top athletic performance. Thank you so much Gary!

Gary,
Thank you so much for your support & coaching this past year. The biking has been going great. I have qualified to go to nationals, I am the third ranked rider on the University of Nebraska team and top 10 in the Big 12 conference. I also got my CAT 4 upgrade. So I am thinking this is a sport that I may stick with for a while. Thanks for all your help and support.

Gary,
I wanted to increase my fitness, but I needed to find someone to work with who could inspire me while making me feel good about the strides I am making toward fitness. I found this in Gary B & Tiger Coaching and Personal Training. I always feel encouraged and supported, and I never feel like my beginning pointis held against me. As a result, I have reaped rewards through a weight lifting and cardio program. In the last 2 ½ months I have grown stronger, changed the shape of my body and am into most of my pretty clothes again. Best of all, the workouts Gary provides are varied and fun. I know this is something I can continue as a lifestyle.
Gary is serious about fitness, but still has a sense of humor. He knows a ton about the latest research in fitness and is great at challenging me while paying careful attention to my limits. This is a really positive experience for me which is why, after the first 2 months, I decided to signed up for another year.

Gary,
I’ve been recommending Gary to all my friends after hiring him to help my reach some fitness & endurance goals I had set. Gary took a look at what I was already doing, reviewed my goals, then helped me reach them by helping me with nutrition ideas, developing a schedule similar to the one I was currently using, but with just enough changes to help me succeed without becoming discouraged or bored – the perfect combination, and it seemed so easy! Not only did I reach my goals, but also lost 9 lbs. and 7 % body fat! Definitely got my money’s worth! Thanks Gary!

Gary,
As a middle-aged woman I have spent much of my life trying to stay fit. Joining health clubs, taking exercise and yoga classes, or bicycling and walking have all been my attempts to try and do the right thing. Many of these efforts lasted a few weeks or even months but I was never totally satisfied with the results. For the last six months, I have met weekly with Gary and as my personal trainer, he has developed a program for me that includes walking and weight training. In that short time I have been very pleased, having reduced my body fat from 32% to 28%. Exercising is easier because I am checking in each week and receive not only the encouragement to continue but I am held accountable if I don t. The best thing is that I don t have to feel guilty because I am doing something and when results are positive, it really does affect one s attitude.

Gary,
I am excited about my finish and placing in my first Triathlon. Thank you for all your help, had I not had you I would not have been prepared. I was not nervous about The race, I was excited. Because I knew I had prepared.
Thanks and I will talk to you again in the future.

“Gary did some seminars in the workplace and I realized that what I needed to get to the next level was a personal trainer. Within the first 10 weeks after beginning my training schedule with Gary, I had my annual physical and found that my cholesterol was at the lowest level I had seen in years and my blood pressure and other vitals were excellent. I even started the golf season with greater strength and stamina than in year’s past. Having someone set and monitor your program results in greater success”.

When I started looking for a personal trainer I belonged to a gym here in Lincoln. The trainer I met with was nice but very new and inexperienced. I could tell it was going to be a waste of my time and money. We then moved to the other side of town from the gym and canceled our membership. Since I have a treadmill and a young child, I wanted someone to come to my home for the convenience. I also didn’t want the extra expense of a gym membership. I had such a bad experience with the next trainer that I figured I was stuck trying to get in shape on my own. Then I read an article in the Lincoln Journal Star on Gary and his business. It sounded good but I was still wary from my last experience. I waited to call Tiger Coaching until I got a personal recommendation from someone I knew who also knew Gary.
Gary comes to my home twice a week. He was able to tailor a fitness program using the limited equipment I have in my basement. He is professional, reliable and knowledgeable. As a stay at home mom I could always find ten million other things that needed to be done before I would work out (meaning I would never work out). Having my appointments with Gary keeps me on track with my exercise program.
Gary is the person to hire if you are looking for a personal trainer. He is always appropriate and accommodating. He caters your fitness program to your level and goals. He is what every certified personal trainer should be!

Tiger Coaching and Personal Training is a GREAT way to improve your endurance, speed, and strength. I feel like a million dollars now. The program helped me achieve many of my goals. Gary has started me on my path to a lifetime of fitness and health.
Let me begin by stating that prior to meeting Gary, I have never used a Personal Trainer. Why would I need a trainer to show me what I could figure out on my own? Right? Wrong!
After meeting with Gary twice, I realized how much I didn’t understand about my own body and its needs.
On our first appointment I was ready to start pumping iron and begin my process of melting the pounds away. Instead, Gary began by explaining to me the dynamics of good nutrition habits, weight lifting and a balanced cardio routine. He has taught me weight lifting techniques, which has made me more comfortable in the weight room. Gary gave me guidelines on how to eat healthy when I’m away from home and helpful tips for grocery shopping. This was way more than I expected.
My program was designed specifically for me, and each time we meet we discuss our game plan. He has a sincere interest in my progress, and helps me remain patient. In today’s society we want a “quick fix”. Gary has taught me PATIENCE and PERSEVERANCE pays off. After six weeks of training, I started seeing definition in my muscles. I am so excited! It takes a lot of hard work, commitment, and dedication, but Gary makes it FUN!
I highly recommend Gary. He is a Professional that is committed to you and your GOALS. My sessions with Gary are focused and during that time, I am his only client.
With Gary, your success is his success!

I was one of those runners that hit the trail about 4-5 days a week, for about 30-40 minutes, same path all the time. I had played sports in high school and college, and had often thought of competing in a triathlon, but I always came up short, lacking the motivation and organizational skills required to get going.
When my brother completed his first triathlon, I told myself I had to push myself, I was not going to be outdone by my brother, and I silently resented the fact that he had completed one before me. I ordered the same computer software that he had used to train, and started setting up training schedules according to the software’s guidelines. Right away I was completely overwhelmed. I went from my usual 40 minute runs, to massive 1 1/2 hour runs. My body ached and cried for mercy. Biking wasn’t as torturous, bu swimming was a massive problem for a person who hadn’t swam a lap since high school. I found that the computer suggestions were nearly impossible to finish in reality.
Within two weeks, I was ready to quit, triathlon seemed completely out of my grasp. I called my brother, and he told me not to panic, but find someone who could give me swimming lessons. I called my local YMCA, and although they didn’t have a regular instructor available, after hearing my dilemma, they referred me to Gary Bredehoft. In January of 2000, I met and sat down with Gary to solve my training problems, and he remains to be trainer to this date.
Gary calmed my raging fears. He analyzed my current fitness level, my background in running, and worked with me to build a workout regime that would not only fit into my hectic work schedule, but enable me to walk without pain up my apartment stairs after it was over. By doing simple calculations, we found that I had been exercising at a much too high heart rate, and Gary worked with me to bring it down to an acceptable level. He went to the pool with me, and straightened out a stroke that resembled something of a dead man’s float. He analyzed my food intake of popcorn and cereal and made some suggestions to help balance my diet, and get the most of my foods. He completely guided me into the world of triathlon and followed me along its course when I hit some bumps.
This summer I completed one dualthon, three sprint triathlons, and one Olympic distance triathlon, topping off the season with a 9th place finish in the 30-34 age group at the Mrs. T’s Triathlon in Chicago. Not only was it rewarding personally, but I felt like I was in the best shape of my life. I attribute this to the structured, balanced regime that Gary created for me. By lowering my heart rate, bringing my schedule to a manageable level, and slowly changing training intervals and times, fitness became so easy and fun. My body responded to the exercise and training, and my mind turned a mental corner. What had seemed the impossible had become the possible.

I met Gary in the fall of 1996 when I enrolled in a YMCA clinic on triathlon training. Gary was the coordinator and coach of those enrolled in the clinic.
At the time I was not a runner. I could not swim further than 25 yards. I did not even own a bicycle. Without Gary’s method of coaching and encouragement I doubt I would have stuck it out that first year or progressed to where I am today.
Gary is very knowledgeable in all areas related to triathlon training. He has a good background in running, biking and swimming as well as other related activities such as resistance training, flexibility and nutrition. Most importantly, he understands how to coordinate all of the various activities so that progressive training, rest and recovery lead to improved fitness.
I believe Gary’s greatest strength is in his ability to assess a persons fitness, understand their goals and limitations and then design a program specific to that individual that allows them to train and achieve those goals. Gary’s pupils rarely suffer the overuse injuries one often sees in endurance athletes. “Burnout” is not a problem. There is always a large “dose” of fun in the programs he designs.
By the close of the summer of 1997, I had competed in several road races including a half marathon and a full marathon. I completed numerous triathlons, including several at the Olympic distance; something I would not have thought possible back in the Fall of ‘96.
I have continued to work with Gary, off and on, over the past several years. I still seek his advice on most aspects of my training. Most recently, I had the opportunity to train with Gary as both of us prepared for the 2000 Ironman Canada. The result was that I improved my time from the 1999 Ironman USA by 48 minutes.
I believe Gary is an excellent coach, with a great amount of knowledge, but always looking to learn more and try new ideas. I would recommend him as a coach/personal trainer to anyone wishing to develop a fitness program, cross-training or looking to compete in triathlons.

I have been working out with Gary since January and I have to say that I have completely enjoyed it. I am feeling better at 32 than I did at 22. I am not very self-motivated, however having the accountability of working with Gary has really helped. Gary has really personalized my workouts for me and helped me gain confidence on a variety of machines. I would highly recommend his one on one training for anyone. If you would like to email me or speak with me on the phone, please contact Gary and he will arrange it. Remember the journey to fitness begins with the first step!
